Housing Rehabilitation

SAA recognizes that living in a house that meets safety standards is a crucial human right. Therefore, the association helps in rehabilitating houses which includes maintenance of walls, doors, windows, internal infrastructure, fixing leaks, electrical installations and furnishing in addition to providing essential household appliances and heating/cooling devices.

In some cases where the house is recognized as uninhabitable, the association relocates the families to a better accommodation place. Since the launch of this project, SAA has rehabilitated more than 100 houses.

One of SAA’s greatest achievements is the construction of a new house for a deprived family with four physically disabled members. The house was built to accommodate the special needs of its inhabitants, offering specific features such as lowered kitchen counters and sinks, entrance with no steps, widened doorways, power door openers, open turning spaces within rooms and wheel-in showers. Being in such a disabled-friendly space has an irrefutable positive influence on daily lives of these vulnerable individuals.
